What are your expectations of MBA 624: Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation?

> What do you want to know that you don't know now?

> What do you want to be able to do better than you do now?

I would like to learn more about how technology and a more detailed knowledge of the internet, computer programs, and additional (connected) resources can help me to better manage a project, team, and/or company. I hope to be able to confidently know that I can progressively change the state of a situation by adding what I will have learned here to improve an outcome, wether it be in my daily personal life, in a work group, or throughout an organization.

My intentions, at this time, are to take the next nine weeks to explore and investigate what technologies are currently in R&D that may/will have a direct impact on the health care industry a decade or more out.

As we talked about in class on Wednesday, it will be interesting to take a look farther into the future than most people likely think of doing. I would like to learn how to be an effective manager, especially when the people who work for you are not as open to change as you are. As for skills that I would like to do better, I would like to make a more professional-looking business website. Right now I'm still a little unsure of exactly what this class entails, so I might have to get back to you on this one.

Tera makes a good point. Part of the reason they aren't as open to change is they aren't sure what's going to happen next, so change seems risky. However, Tera as a far-sighted manager will see better what's going to happen next and will have confidence is her vision and thus be able to minimize the risk and confidently lead the people who work for her.

I hope to gain a better understanding of what is to come. I have a slight competitive advantage over some of the more seasoned managers because I can manouver around computers. However, some day I will be that seasoned manager and there will be college graduates biting at my heels with their new knowledge and capabilities. I need to widen my skill set so I can continue to learn well after my education officially ends.

I am interested in learning what may be coming at us in the future, as far as technology, computers and internet. I am very excited about looking into "smart cars and buildings", two things i am all about having when they become available, if i have the money.

What are your expectations of MBA 624: Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation?

I have two main expectations out of this class. One and most importantly is to help myself think "outside the box". I am a realist and have always thought of technology when it happens and not think of the future. I need to stop thinking that way and start thinking of the future and what technology will have in 20-30 years.

My second expectation is to try to relate what were going to learn to my present job and future job ventures. I always try to relate every class to a future career venture and this should be no different. Many new ideas that arise in technology and business today is because someone wouldn't take "no" for an answer or someone just simply asked "why not".

> What do you want to know that you don't know now?

I want to know all the possibilities. Just from going over what different people are going to do for their presentations, there is a lot of information and ideas out there that I never even thought of or thought was possible.

> What do you want to be able to do better than you do now?

IF it makes sense, I want to be able to think better than I do now, and be the person who asks why not. I want to be able to go into meetings and instead of hearing that technology is restricting us from moving forward on projects, is able to be the person to advise that the technology is there or is coming. I want to try to be a free thinker which I do not believe I am now.

I am interested in knowing what humans are really capable of doing and creating. I do however feel that technolgy can cross the line into things that are just unethical and humans are getting too smart for their own good. Technolgy is great, but it also can and will get us in trouble.

I guess my expectations aren't as much really for a now, but later with this class. What can this class teach me as Keith said to think outside the box?! So many times i see new cool inventions and i think to myself, why didn't i come up with that? I want to be able to be more creative after this class. I think this class will lead me in the right direction.

My expectations for this course are to learn new aspects of technology that I don't already know or have used and figure out how I can apply them to my current job and classes in the MBA program. I like not only knowing about but understanding cutting edge technology so I can have an intelligent conversation and even apply to every day use. That is what I hope to obtain from this course.

While I am very interested in technology, I have watched the venture capital business in previous endeavors. I am hoping to learn the process from start to finish in the hope that one day i can either bring a new product to market, or help others do the same.

I expect to build upon what I have learned in 600 and 604. I also would like to improve my presentation skills. I have the tendency to be soft spoken and I think the 30 minute presentation we'll have to do will help me with developing these skills.

I expect to learn new and innovating technology concepts and ideas. I hope to understand all future technologies that we will discuss in class. Every topic that we talked about in the first class are new ideas to me so I hoping to grasp these new ideas. After taking this course I want the ability to explain these topics to co-workers and maybe future employers.

I hope this class will help me in developing an idea for the future of stroke & acute stroke therapy via technology. I was kind of lost during the first class but I believe I got a hold of my idea and a direction as to where I am going with it. I'd like to learn how this class will enable me to implement the idea.
