Medaille College MBA program

Parkside Plaza home

Looks like Schmooze City

How it happened ...

Two MBA students, Amr Abbas and Michelle Reiter, who are also officers in the MBA Student Organization, organized this event. They worked with Carol Cullinan, a graduate of the MBA program who is also director of the College's Career Planning and Placement office.

Carol's office lined up two dozen employers. Her staff handled the details of food, registration, setting up tables, publicity, all that important stuff ... and then they had to disassemble the whole production and clean up, too!!

Amr and Michelle got the students to come. Most of the Business Department faculty delayed the start of their early class and were able to attend themselves.

Thanks most of all to the local companies that sent reps!!

American Express Financial Advisors

Buffalo Financial Associates

Delaware North

Ingram Micro

Here's what the food table looked like before folks started having at it.

It was billed as both a networking event -- meet and greet other students -- and a job fair. The handsomely printed and bound resume book had professional presentations by over two dozen students.

Many students brought their own. One had four resumes to give out depending on the type of job, the industry, and the level of responsibility.

First Investors Corporation

Gaines, Metzler, Kriner, and Co., LLP

H & R Block

MassMutual Financial Group

McGard

A bunch of door prizes were given out to people who put their business cards into a box.

If this looks crowded, you should have seen the parking lot.

In addition to this event, the College's men's and women's basketball teams played their season-opening exhibition games at the same time. The only parking was back on the grass of the athletic fields.

Did I mention that we had great food, too? Thanks to Rose and the kitchen staff.

Thanks to all these local companies!

If you didn't find what you were looking for in our students or in the companies, talk to us about it. Email MBA program director Bill Weeks at wgjweeks@aol.com.

Three of the folks who are responsible for it all. Michelle Reiter and Amr Abbas are flanking MBA program director Bill Weeks, who signed the checks. Thanks, Bill.

Carol Cullinan and her able staff did the heavy lifting, and were so busy they didn't manage to get into any pictures. Many thanks to them for their hard work.

And special thanks to Amr, Michelle, and the MBA SO for taking the initiative and making the event such a success. Who's going to step up next year and do it again?
