Course Description

This course provides an economic foundation for strategic analysis. What are the horizontal and vertical boundaries of modern businesses. What are long term goals and strategies, how do they determine a corporations success or failure?   The course emphasizes practical managerial applications of topics from industrial economics and strategy: economics of scale and scope, industry analysis, market structure, commitment, dynamic competition, entry/exit, and the economics of competitive advantage. The course will also include the use of technology in the analysis of current topics

Student Objectives

Students will be able to utilize the web to augment lecture and textbook assignments. They will utilize the analytical tools above to evaluate and provide corrective insight to economic questions posed in today's climate. In addition
