# start-up employees
anticipating MBA 624 ...
I heard a story on the radio about the guy from Rochester who
invented the copier and how he went from one high-tech company to another in the
1940's. No one would buy it. Why would anyone want a copier? They had carbon
paper!! Who would want a copy of something that had already been typed up?
Besides, PhD's
in physics impatiently explained to the guy, his invention was theoretically
impossible. They all laughed.
Go to Amazon and check out the book:
They All Laughed... From Light Bulbs to Lasers: The Fascinating Stories Behind
the Great Inventions That Have Changed Our Lives
by Ira Flatow
In 1995, if I had told you that I was going to start Google, eBay, and Amazon (as they are now), you would have laughed at me, too.
Not everyone spent their whole 1,000 credits. A couple of you gave me decimal point scores that I rounded up.
margin of error - I have clustered the scores within which I am pretty sure there is no significant difference.
range - Note that DotGom has the widest range, 175, and Music with a Smile the narrowest, 35.
If this were a horse race, right now the horses would be at the first turn, not the finish line. I would like each of you to take ten minutes to compose an email to me with concrete suggestions for what would make each of these business ideas more investable to you. I will compile those suggestions in the right-hand column.
self-assessment - after you've done everything else for this course
